Workshop details:
Over the next two months, Akademi will facilitate eight engaging workshops for community members, exploring the movement of Kathak, one of the eight classical dances from India. Led by renowned Kathak artist, Archita Kumar, participants will get the opportunity to immerse themselves in the beauty and dynamism of this art form, drawing inspiration from the incredible artifacts within their upcoming exhibition – Ancient India: living traditions. Reaching back more than 2,000 years, this new exhibition explores the origins of Hindu, Jain and Buddhist sacred art in the ancient and powerful nature spirits of India, and the spread of this art beyond the subcontinent.
Performance details:
The performance on July 25th will showcase the choreography developed by the participants under Archita’s expert guidance. In addition to the group performance, Archita will also present a solo Kathak performance.
