*UPCOMING | South Asian Dance Workshop at Southfield Primary Academy, 13 May

Tuesday 13 May 2025
Southfield Primary School, Luton
Akademi will be bringing an immersive South Asian dance experience to Year 5 students at Southfield Primary Academy in Luton. Led by artist Archita Kumar, the full-day workshop will introduce 57 pupils to the rhythms, storytelling, and expressive movements of Kathak and other South Asian dance forms.
In line with the school’s interest in exploring the history of South Asian dance and its cultural influence, Archita will guide students through both movement and context — offering insights into the origins of South Asian dance forms, their evolution, and continued relevance in contemporary British culture.
Alongside dance, the workshop will include reflections on South Asian traditions through personal stories touching on food, festivals, travel, and clothing — offering students a vibrant and holistic understanding of South Asian culture through the lens of performing arts.
