Lunchtime performance at Chelsea & Westminster hospital, 23 Sep

Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, London
An endeavour to bring healing and hope through dance in a hospital
We brought colours and swirls of Rajasthani folk dances to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital‘s beautiful atrium with our lunchtime performances!
As part of our Dance Well programme, bringing the transformative power of classical Indian dance directly into healthcare settings, artists from Sarjan Nartan Academy performed stunning Ghoomar and Chirmi dances from Rajasthan. These performances offer patients, visitors, and staff a beautiful hour of classical Indian dance.
There’s something deeply moving about bringing dance into care settings. The sight of faces lighting up, of people pausing their intense work or treatment to connect with culture, and of these beautiful moments of respite emerging in spaces often marked by stress and concern – this is precisely why our Dance Well programme exists.
The heartwarming feedback from patients and visitors continues to reinforce our understanding of art’s incredible power to heal and uplift communities. These performances create shared moments of beauty that transcend the boundaries between performer and audience.
“I was feeling really anxious because I have been waiting for my medication for a while now. This performance made me forget it all and put a smile on my face”

We extend our sincere gratitude to CW+ and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for their continued partnership in making these meaningful cultural experiences possible, and to all our dedicated artists who bring such skill and heart to this important work.
We have more such performances lined up in the coming months, so stay tuned. In the meantime, know more about our work with hospitals here: Akademi in hospitals
