Pravaas wins The Green Dance Award at One Dance UK Awards
Pravaas, produced by Akademi and choreographed by Vidya Patel, receives The Green Dance Award.

We are delighted to announce that our production Pravaas, on climate related human migration, received The Green Dance Award at the One Dance UK Awards held on Friday 10 February 2024 at Coventry. The award was received by Akademi’s and this project’s Artistic Director, Suba Subramaniam, on behalf of the entire team that worked on the show.
Choreographed by Vidya Patel, Pravaas highlighted the stories of loss and hope, community and people, landscapes and shelter, refugees and livelihoods in the Sundarbans area of India and Bangladesh, explored through the beauty and poignancy of South Asian dance forms and classical Carnatic vocals.
A massive thank you to our wonderful team of cast and creatives who made it a reality and to the supporters without whom this wasn’t possible.
A special congratulations to all the fellow winners, especially Dr Swati Raut for winning ‘The Peoples Choice Award’, Ashwini Kalsekar for winning the ‘Young People’s Dance Champion Award’ and Step Change Studio for winning the ‘Community Champion Award’. Also to Sonia Sabri Company on being nominated for ‘Artistic Innovation in Dance Award’.
