Claire Farmer and Dr Ashley McGill will be off to Italy next month to attend the 34th Annual Conference of International Association for Dance Medicine & Science (IADMS). They will present the ongoing research outcomes of our Reach Out and Reveal programme, that takes South Asian Dance into SEND schools.

There is currently very little research on dance as a joyous, creative activity for autistic children, and even less so within South Asian Dance genres (Kathak, Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Kuchipudi, Bollywood and more), yet these forms have focused skills such as mudras (hand gestures), rhythm and abhinaya (facial expressions) that provide an opportunity for new ways for the children to express themselves and develop motor skills to aid on daily life.

Find out more at their presentation, available for delegates online and in person. To know more about the research project, see below.
