Performance by our Dance Well group from Holborn Community Association

Our wonderful Dance Well participants from the Holborn Community Association were invited to perform at the V&A’s annual Performance Festival. which took place on 1 May at V&A, South Kensington. From Bollywood to Gujarati Folk to Kathak, the three dance pieces performed by the group celebrated the joy of dance with a modern take on South Asian dance styles.

The event also included a Kathak recital by lead Dance Well artist Jesal Patel, who presented two solo pieces featuring fast rhythmic patterns and sequences, aptly set to classical Indian music.

This is not the first time that the group has performed at a public event. In 2021, they were invited to perform at the Camden Dance Festival at The Place.

Akademi dance artists have been working with this group for over four years,delivering weekly movement and choreographic workshops and supporting the group to develop pieces for public performance.
