Akademi Newsletter: December
December 2018
From the Director’s desk
This November The Troth finished its Autumn tour. Thank you to all those who helped to make it such a success this year. Congratulations to Vidya Patel for being nominated for a National Dance Award for her performance in The Troth.
As 2018 draws to a close, our Big Lottery funded project Dance Well reaches the end of its three-year funding. Since 2016 we have brought South Asian Dance to older adults across London, providing opportunities to socialise and improve their health and wellbeing. We hope to continue this work in the future.
On 26 November it was a pleasure to host our annual Artist Social. As we plan our 40th anniversary next year, we will be inviting artists to submit their proposals for involvement.
I recently attended a stimulating National Dance Network meeting where the role and impact of freelancers was discussed. I was glad to know that there is a research project being carried out to evaluate this impact. More information in the newsletter below. I would urge freelance artists to participate by filling out the form.
“With this last newsletter of 2018, I wish you all a joyful festive season and happy New Year. See you all in 2019.”
Stay up to date with Akdemi. Our 6-weekly newsletter includes updates on Akademi and news form the South Asian Dance sector.
