Dance Well Takeaways
Last year has challenged us all to devise new ways of connecting with our Dance Well participants. While video delivery has been a fantastic method to engage with digitally savvy participants, we also wanted to connect with people who are offline or prefer to spend some time away from their screens.
In response to this, we have created the Dance Well Takeaway – a bag with activity cards and small objects to help people engage with Indian dance forms from the comfort of their own spaces. Two of our regular L&P artists, Priyanka Chauhan and Sophie Holland, devised and wrote the activity cards within the Takeaway, all based around easy to do exercises during daily activities using the provided items or household objects as props.
We have now delivered the first set of Takeaways to The Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Trust where they will be used for patient and staff wellbeing and are hoping to continue creating Takeaways beyond this pilot project.
“These cards are designed to keep us all moving at home. We are excited to dance with you!
To keep it simple, all you need to do is pick a card and follow the steps in the activity. You can choose to do the cards in order or pick one at random. There are also some cards that we suggest you place around your living space, for example, by your window or mirror, to remind you to bring movement into your day-to-day life.”
