Dance Well in Royal Stoke University Hospital, Stoke-on-Trent, 5 Jun

Thursday 5 June 2025
Dialysis ward and Atrium
We were deeply honoured to participate in Royal Stoke University Hospital’s remarkable 100-year celebration on June 5th, bringing the transformative power of classical Indian dance to patients, visitors, and healthcare staff.
Artists Shree Savani and Shivani Jatar delivered captivating performances of Bharatanatyam and Kathak, reaching over 120 people across two vital spaces within the hospital. In the dialysis ward, 40 patients experienced the beauty and grace of these ancient art forms during their treatment, while 80 people gathered in the hospital’s main atrium for an uplifting performance that brought the community together.
The performances were designed to share joy and provide moments of respite within the hospital environment. However, what we discovered was that we received far more than we gave. The resilience, warmth, and incredible spirit we witnessed from every person we encountered was truly inspiring and reminded us of the profound human capacity for hope and connection.
“I’ve been in this hospital for 9 weeks; this absolutely made my entire week!”

“Life should be full of fun and this is so much fun!”

This experience perfectly embodies our mission and the reason we do this work. Art has the unique ability to bring light to any space, and create moments of joy that can transform an entire day or even week for those who need it most. This performance represents the kind of meaningful community engagement that lies at the heart of our work.
