Performance at V&A’s Diwali family event, 18 October
18 October 2025, 11am to 12:15pm
South Asia gallery, V&A Museum
This year, we had the privilege of curating performances for the V&A Museum’s Diwali family celebration – a wonderful opportunity to share classical Indian dance with diverse audiences.
The programme featured two Odissi performances by acclaimed artist Pallabi Basak Vijay, who presented ‘Rupang Dehi’, a powerful invocation to goddess Chandi. Through intricate movement and expression, the piece celebrated this deity as the embodiment of creation, regeneration, and the eternal victory of good over evil. The choreography, created by guru Smt Sutapa Talukdar, brought to life the iconic image of Chandi – a form of Goddess Durga – in her full glory: four-armed and battle-ready, bedecked in jewels and seated upon her lion mount.
