Summer Awards| Akademi at India Inc. and UK Enterprise
This summer Akademi have been celebrating, acknowledged not once, not twice, but three times at awards ceremonies.
At the end of June Akademi’s The Troth won the ‘Special Arts and Culture Award’ at the UK-India Awards by India Incorporated. This international dance theatre production was inspired by the classic Hindi short story Usne Kaha Tha, directed and choreographed by Gary Clarke. The awards honour and celebrate individuals and organisations who use their worldwide influence to strengthen the bond between the UK and India. The Troth toured in the UK and India across 2018 as part of UK India Year of Culture. The Troth’s female lead Vidya Patel and composer Shammi Pithiafor performed at the event to celebrate the occasion.
The event presented a double celebration for Akademi, with Director Mira Misra Kaushik being included in the 100 most influential people in UK India Relations for the third time in a row.
