Sadler’s Wells partners with Akademi for their South Asian Dance Development Programme
“The wonderful thing about this programme is that it’s designed for dance artists who work across the spectrum of South Asian dance.”
Suba Subramaniam, Artistic director – Akademi
We are delighted to be invited by Sadler’s Wells to partner on their South Asian dance Development programme that offers eight developing choreographers and dance makers whose practice is rooted in South Asian Dance, access to a two-year development programme.
This initiative is part of our commitment to nurturing South Asian dance artists.
The programme, inspired by discussions with Sadler’s Wells’ South Asian Dance Advisory Panel in 2022, will provide a space for these artists to re-examine their choreographic process and extend their practice through intensive weekends of creative exchange, peer-led learning, mentoring, and support. The artists will also receive a creative development bursary.
Artists on this programme have been selected by an open call that required developing choreographers and dance makers to tell us about their choreographic experience to date, describe what they would like to explore further, and what impact a programme like this would have on their practice.
Find out more about this programme on the Sadler’s Wells website or in the Information Pack below.
