Akademi is a recognised Arts Award centre. The Arts Award supports young people to develop as artists and arts leaders and is available throughout England. It is a nationally recognised qualification at three levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Through ReAct, Akademi’s intensive creative learning project, participants can work towards achieving an Arts Award.
Over 30 young people from Brent’s Encee Academy of Performing Arts achieved an Arts Award after taking part in the world’s first kathak beatbox choir, Urban Vani, performed at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, South Bank Centre, on 28-29 March 2009. Urban Vani was the result of a 12-week project delivered through ReAct, funded by the European Social Fund and Learning and Skills Council.
