In most traditions Paradise is an enclosed garden surrounded by sea. It represents a timeless place of order and harmony.
Choreographed by Mayuri Boonham, Paradiso is a site-responsive, open-air dance performance inspired by the architecture of Sheerness; William Blake's vibrant illustrations for Dante's Paradiso and the language of South Asian classical dance.
Boonham creates set pieces where the audience walks in the footsteps of the poet to glimpse this Otherworld - the final spiritual landscape.
An Encounter commission produced by Akademi. Paradiso is one of six Encounter commissions.
