Akademi works imaginatively with young people. We aim to provide them with skills for developing creativity and building important social and life skills. Some programmes offer the opportunity to gain a Level 1 or 2 accreditation.
Akademi receives funding from the Learning and Skills Council's European Social Fund and the Skills Funding Agency to deliver projects in Brent, Hammersmith and Fulham, Camden and Islington.
These creative education projects deliver activities that enhance the young people's skills in South Asian dance but also their creative and life skills associated with personal success, work readiness and employability.
We offer taster sessions with professional dance education practitioners and key workers. Accreditation available is the Arts Award Level 1. Young people work on individualised learning plans within the context of a creative production e.g. a dance performance, a film or a soundtrack.
Work placements are provided with creative industry employers such as Southbank Centre and the British Museum.
