ReAct was an exciting project that engaged 14-19 year olds at risk of NEET (not in employment, education or training) in creative learning performance programmes.
The young people were supported by professional artists and key workers through an individual programme that allows them to build on skills and gain knowledge, insight and experience in their chosen art form and in the world of the creative and cultural industries.
They also worked towards a live performance and achieving a Bronze Arts Award, which is a level one nationally accredited qualification. They could do a Silver or Gold Award if appropriate. The project enhanced their creative skills (imagination, innovation, originality, flexibility), as well as skills associated with personal success and employability (lateral thinking, problem solving, negotiation, communication, team working).
We brought activities to centres and tailored programmes to suit the needs of the young people using local services. ReAct ran until December 2010 and was open to the boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham, Camden and Islington.
ReAct was funded by the European Social Fund through the Learning and Skills Council.
