ReAct - Learning and Skills Council

Urban Vani at the Southbank Centre.

ReAct is an exciting new project that engages 14-19 year olds at risk of NEET (not in employment, education or training) in creative learning performance programmes.

The young people are supported by professional artists and key workers through an individual programme that allows them to build on skills and gain knowledge, insight and experience in their chosen art form and in the world of the creative and cultural industries.

They also work towards a live performance and achieving a Bronze Arts Award, which is a level one nationally accredited qualification. They can do a Silver or Gold Award if appropriate. The project enhances their creative skills (imagination, innovation, originality, flexibility), as well as skills associated with personal success and employability (lateral thinking, problem solving, negotiation, communication, team working).

We can bring activities to your centre and can tailor programmes to suit the needs of the young people using your services. ReAct runs until December 2010 and is open to the boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham, Camden and Islington.

If you have a group that you think could benefit from ReAct and want to know more, please contact Kath Veitch on 0207 691 3210 or kath@akademi.co.uk

ReAct is funded by the European Social Fund through the Learning and Skills Council.
