The Trafalgar Square Festival 2006 commissioned by the Mayor of London.
The festival featured 3 weeks of free spectacular outdoor performance on Thursdays through to Sundays from 3-20 August.
Akademi-South Asian Dance UK presented AWAZ/VOICE. Featuring professional dancers and an Asian women's group from London, Awaz invoked the stories and celebrated the dynamism of the Asian woman in a new site specific choreography by Chitra Sundaram. With classical and contemporary dance, movement, as well as folk and festive dance, the work featured the mesmerising vocalist Geetika Varde, and a compelling new score by the innovative British Asian composer Niraj Chag.
